hello everyone. ive been offline for the past 4 days or so since my phoneline was ripped down on saturday
anyhow, my car went out this weekend for a little play. its the first
time its been out since the paintjob was finished and it was greeted
with enthusiasm by my fellow "weekenders"
After chatting and dossing about as we usually do, it was time to GET IT ONNN!!!1
we had a few new guys come round on saturday night, two friends
respectively in a black ST185 and a white S13 200SX... the ST185 owner
wanted a race against me so i was happy to oblidge. i was happy to go
from a roll, so off we went to the start line, cruising side by side at
about 5mph.
just before we got to the start line, i left foot braked and
pressed a little on the throttle in order to build a little positive
boost. when we got level with the start i floored it and lifted the
brake. its fair to say the 185 simply slid backwards out of my view. at
the end of the quarter mile he was a good 10 car lengths behind and at
the half mile mark i have no idea how far away he was. lets just say it
was a comprehensive victory.
intake temp, sub 13c
max boost, 1.26bar
it was pre decided that the winner of the above competition would face the S13. which meant me, in my little old shed
in order to level the playing field, once again we chose to start
the dragrace from a roll, so again we drew neck and neck and rolled at
5mph to the start line. i again built up a little positive boost with
left foot braking and unleashed all hell as we passed the line. this
race was pretty much a carbon copy of the previous. i shifted into 2nd
gear and the S13 just slid behind me and kept on getting smaller.
unlike the ST185 race, once i had pulled out a comprehensive lead i
back off and started to slow down before the finish line.
intake temp, sub 13c
max boost, 1.24bar
i retired to the pitlane to allow my glowing red turbo to cool
down, and for me to have a snack and chat with my fellow racers. whilst
i was in the pitlane the S13 went up against a black 2.5 soarer TT. the
soarer won against the S13 by about the same margin as i did. so, it
seems as though there was some competition for me after all
challenge duly accepted, the shed and the soarer lined up and once
again went from a roll (arent i kind, not racing from a dig vs 2WD
cars) at 5mph. the usual procedure applied, foot to the floor at the
starting mark. the soarer initially kept with me through first, then
pulled ahead slightly whilst i shifted into 2nd. however
once i got into 2nd and put my foot to the floor, the soarer was
quickly reelled in by the half a car length it stole on me, and then
soundly dispatched to 2nd place. on this run i back off in the shift
into 3rd because there was a god almighty bang from the rear of my car*
which i thought might be a wheel nut falling off! not being the type to
let this deter me, i kept it pinned into 5th and backed off once the
victory was clearly mine (by a long way too, i suspect the soarer
backed off once the victor was clear) and cruised back into the
pitlane.
intake temp, sub 13c
max boost, 1.22bar
so, 3:0 to the mighty shed. time to take on the big guns. the big
guns around our area are two evos, one new and one old. I was up
against the old evo. this is running 1.5bar with supporting mods,
including a twin plate clutch and some apexi bl00 gadgets in the
cockpit.
same old same old, 5mph roll, left foot braking. as we pass the
starting line we both floor it and the evo surges ahead by virtue of
its taller 1st gear. by the end of first gear his rear bumper is level
with the front of my car. at the end of 2nd there is a clear car length
between us, however as i shift into 3rd, 4th and then fifth i ever so
slowly begin to claw back the distance between us. at the half mile
finish mark, my front bumper is level with his B pillar.
a very close race, however i have no doubt the evo owner backed off
in 3rd gear, then had to put his foot back down again as my car
suprised him and caught up a very fun, close race.
intake temp, sub 13c
max boost, 1.22bar
all fun and games at our usual venue
*a quick post race check revealed my friend had left his revo RC car
and barrel of nitro race fuel in the boot, and it was this banging
about which was the source of the noise.

the new evo is a bit quicker than the old one, mainly down to the ease you can map them yourself
